Monotype Process
Each Monotype is a unique original print. These Monotypes are created by painting your image in reverse in Oil paint diluted with Linseed oil or White Spirit onto glass, then carefully laying the paper in position over the glass and rubbing down hard with a Baren. The paper is then carefully peeled back to reveal the print. Any mistakes or printing errors can then be touched up, normally the eyes which are arguably the most important aspect of a portrait.
Alice Roberts
Alice May Roberts (born 19 May 1973) is an English
biological anthropologist, biologist, television presenter and author.
Since 2012 she has been Professor of the Public Engagement in Science
at the University of Birmingham. She is also as of 2019 the president of
the ‘Humanist Society’ that campaigns for “a tolerant world where rational thinking and kindness prevail”. I admire her television programmes and presenting style and so wanted to represent her as one of my voices.
